Studies have showed that from 243 petrol station fires, not one was created by someone using a mobile phone. Mobile phones were initially meant to a source of the cause as small spark is created when a mobile phone is in use. Research then shown that most of the fires were caused by discharge of static electricity from the body igniting fumes. This is only a figure though and using mobile phones at petrol stations is still prohibited.
